Justin made his debut in Western Australian cricket in 1990 and made his Australian
debut in the 1992/03 season at Adelaide Oval – Australia vs. West Indies. He has
toured West Indies, Pakistan, South Africa, Sharjah, Zimbabwe, India, England
and New Zealand with the Australian team, and was a member of the squad named
the 2002 Laureus World Team of the Year in Monte Carlo.
Along with Matthew Hayden, forms Australia’s most successful-ever opening pair
in test cricket history. At the start of the 2003/04 season they averaged 68.13
runs per opening stand from 24 matches together including nine hundred – plus
stands, and seven more partnerships of between 50 and 99.
Justin and Matthew draw much satisfaction from their combined efforts and describe
their on-field partnership as a “team within a team”.
Western Australia’s highest run scorer in the domestic one day competition Justin
has also captained Western Australia (Western Warriors) since 2003.
Justin has now been appointed captain of Somerset CCC for the 2007 season.
